Should You Do The Dollar Dance?
This time-honored traditional event is the subject of much debate for many brides. The dollar dance has been done for so long that many people feel it has to be part of the evening. In the last few years, I have seen more and more couple veer away from having this event be part of their reception. This event, if not done properly, can deflate the energy of the night if it happens in the middle of your evening. Or, it can cause people to leave if it is done right after your first dances before the energy really gets started. However, this is a great way to "visit" with your guests in a one-on-one, personal experience. Although, you should keep the time frame with each guest brief, it offers your special loved ones a moment to share with just you. Your individual tastes will have to decide whether to leave it in or out of your reception. Sometimes, the dollar dance can be used to offset some of the after-dinner mingling while still keeping the energy of your evening progressing. Have your DJ assist you in keeping the time with each guest to a time limit to keep the flow moving along. Don't do the dollar dance for 30-45 minutes!
